Tribute to Professor Hoang Tuy

Hoang Tuy was a great mathematician, who invented concave programming/global optimization during the early years of the Vietnam war, literally under the bombings. His monograph with R. Horst “Global Optimization: Deterministic Approaches”, which has been reprinted multiple times, is regarded as the Bible on Global Optimization, with impact pervading all areas of Control and Communication to Signal Processing. Prof. Hoang Tuy is one of the very few scientists who, when it comes to names, most Vietnamese would associate with a courageous warrior who fought on many levels for democracy and a well-developed Vietnam. He left an invaluable legacy and a shining example for the next generations. ICCAIS 2022 is proud to present a tribute to the beloved Prof. Hoang Tuy, at the Gala Dinner.
